North Korea continues to make gestures that indicate that it is interesting in the “demilitarization” of the Korean Peninsula, but after all the work they’ve put into their nuclear program are we to actually believe that they’ll give the program up at the eleventh hour and the fifty-ninth minute? Pacific Rim security expert Grant Newsham (Col, USMC ret) joined us to discuss how to view the increasingly charming rhetoric coming from North Korea. We’ll also discuss the price China will attempt to exact for it’s assistance in the matter and Japan’s concern about what the United States will give away in the region to pursue it’s agenda in North Korea — a concern that is so substantial that it got Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to Mar a Lago to visit with the President last weekend.
