As I’ve talked to leaders and providers around the nation one thing has become clear to me:  our suicide problem does NOT fall in the historic mental health disorder categories such as bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia or manic depression… the problem is that people who have no mental health disorder are taking their lives.  These people are overwhelmed by life and the good news is we can change that.

Another interesting point that comes out of those discussion is that fact that the manner in which young people are currently parented, the way they are insulated from adversity and left unprepared for the reality of life beyond high school — we’ll talk about it.
