There is no greater illustration of the problems that military families fight than this CNN report from April of 2012. The report chronicles the base housing mold issues at the U.S. Naval Base in Norfolk VA and illustrates the vice that military families are in , on one side you have profit driven companies that seek to minimize maintenance costs, on the other side you have an inattentive DOD that doesn’t supervise these private firms who run base housing around the world — in the middle are our military families, which is not a good place to be.
