SSgt Jeremiah Workman received the Navy Cross for leadership in combat in the Iraqi city of Fallujah.  He has shared his struggle with post-traumatic stress with fellow Marines and veterans by public speaking and publishing a book about his struggle entitled “Shadow of the Sword” — HE DOESN’T HAVE TO DO THAT.  If you listen to this short segment (which was extracted from the two and a half hour interview we did) you’ll hear his anguish.  When you hear his anguish and you’ll realize that he does these interviews and speaking engagements at his own expense.  It can’t be pleasant.  Yet he does them out of his desire to spare others what he has gone through.

Jeremiah’s example of selfless leadership inspires me to do more to help spread the gospel of post-combat related mental health.
